OCEAN CITY – New affordable housing is coming to the island, The Press of Atlantic City reported. City Council unanimously approved the transfer of property Aug. 25. The lots will be given to a new non-profit to build 10 affordable housing units.
The five properties are spread throughout the city and the soon-to-be constructed duplexes will be rented to families in certain income bands. All the lots appear to be currently vacant, according to The Press.
The city’s housing authority created a development corporation as a non-profit entity to develop the properties. These units will help the city to reach the terms of a settlement agreement with the Fair Share Housing Center, The Press reported.
