COURT HOUSE – Middle Township reallocated $61,000 in additional funds Dec. 2 to cover Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) fees for wastewater treatment.
Mayor Timothy Donohue explained that MUA fees have risen over the last few years, frequently exceeding estimated expenses used in preparing municipal utility budgets.
A project is underway to study the aging sewer system to correct groundwater intrusion and stormwater inflows, both of which could increase the flow of wastewater to the MUA.
The reallocated funds came from unexpended dollars within the Sewer Utility, and are intended to cover additional expenses related to wastewater flows above the annual estimate.
