SEA ISLE CITY – During the Sea Isle City Council meeting Feb. 25, a resident requested expanded jitney service hours. Currently, the jitney service, which is privately owned, operates from early May to late September, with hours between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m.
The resident stated that there is a need for service before 4 p.m., for beachgoers and shoppers, and a need for transportation for those whose work ends after 4 a.m.
The resident implored the council to negotiate with the jitney service to extend their hours.
The council was noncommittal, but indicated it would consider the suggestion.
