Middle Moves to Ban Bounce Houses on Municipal Property

Children's

By Vince Conti

COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Committee introduced an ordinance March 23 that would ban the use of bounce houses on municipal property, including public parks, recreational fields, and community centers.

The action was taken after the municipality noted the use of bounce houses by third parties that were not approved by the municipality and where appropriate insurance coverage was not provided.

The proposed ordinance states that the use of such houses and other inflatables defined in the ordinance creates a safety risk to participants and others, as well as a liability risk for the municipality when insurance coverage is not in place.

The ordinance is scheduled for a public hearing at the committee’s April 18 meeting. A vote to adopt may be held after the public hearing.
