CAPE MAY – Cape May City Manager Jerry Inderwies announced plans to extend the deadline for mercantile license payment and to delay parking meter operation.
According to a release, Inderwies underscored the health and safety of residents and visitors remains the city’s priority. He urged everyone to continue complying with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Mercantile Licenses
The deadline for payment of mercantile license fees has been extended until July 1.
The previous deadline was May 1.
Parking Meters
City parking meters are not presently in operation. Use of the parking meters is at the Inderwies’ discretion; he will announce the date when the use of the meters will resume.
The “Reopening Cape May” Task Force is meeting regularly and developing plans and recommendations for the City’s return from the “stay in place” requirements brought on by the COVID-19 crisis. Dates and plans for reopening beaches and the promenade will be announced soon.
The Task Force is defining protocols to assure the health, safety, and well-being of full-time and part-time residents, and seasonal and short-term visitors. The protocols set standards for the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation at restaurants, retail shops and accommodations.
