SEA ISLE CITY – At a Sea Isle City Council meeting Feb. 14, Mayor Leonard Desiderio spoke of inflation and rising prices before announcing to the taxpayers that the “one thing that won’t go up in 2023 is your local taxes.”

Desiderio said the 2023 budget will allow the city to continue to provide all the services its residents have come to expect without a tax increase. He also spoke of the town’s surplus, which stands at $8.7 million, “the highest available surplus we have ever had.”

Desiderio added to the good news when he told residents that water and sewer rates will not rise in 2023. The town maintains a separate utility budget that is financed by user fees.

“Through sound financial management and careful planning, we have maintained our utility is in outstanding shape while keeping costs under control,” he added.

The budget has not been formally introduced, and Desiderio provided no details on its content.
