Madden Named Acting Road Supervisor

CREST HAVEN – Freeholders approved a resolution Jan. 29 that appointed Scott Madden as acting road supervisor in the Road Department.
Also approved was a salary resolution (http://bit.ly/2SHUH9X), listing Madden’s salary at $72,000 per year.
He replaces Middle Township Mayor Timothy Donohue, who held that position since November 2015.
Madden’s effective date of hire was Jan. 14, 2020, per the salary resolution. The position is listed as full time.
In other action, the board: 
* Appointed George Dilworth to the county Construction Board of Appeals with a term to expire Jan. 29, 2024.
* Authorized the sale of county-owned property at 3304 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, for $890,000, to Ocean City.
* Agreed to settle with Steven Lund, a county employee, who filed a workers’ compensation claim petition for “injuries allegedly attributed to his employment with the county.” The amount of settlement ($23,820) was agreed upon and approved Jan. 16 by Judge of Workers’ Compensation Court James Robertson.
* Agreed to settle with Denise High, a former employee of the county. She filed a workers’ compensation claim petition for “injuries allegedly attributed to her employment with the county.” The amount of settlement ($19,096) was agreed upon and approved Jan. 16 by Judge of Workers’ Compensation Court James Robertson.
* Accepted a $33,000 grant from the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety for the county Underage Alcohol Enforcement Project, between Oct. 1, 2019 and Sept. 30, 2020.
* Accepted a $130,700 grant from the state Department of Law and Public Safety Office of Insurance Fraud Prosecutor for “reimbursement of any activities undertaken in connection with investigating and prosecuting insurance fraud,” between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2020.
* Authorized the use of competitive contracting for architectural site work, engineering and project management services for a child advocacy center.  
* Awarded a contract to United Uniform, LLC, of Rio Grande, to furnish and deliver uniforms for various county departments, commencing Jan. 30, for a term of one year, with a one one-year option.
* Awarded a $67,000 contract to Midmark Corporation, d/b/a Mason Company, of Versailles, Ohio, to furnish, deliver and install indoor canine enclosures at the Cape May County Animal Shelter.
* Authorized an agreement with Civic-Plus, LLC for a subscription to AudioEye, in the amount of $11,300 per domain, for a term of twelve months, commencing Jan. 30. The program “will provide access to the county website for persons with visual disabilities,” per the resolution.
* Authorized an agreement with Unitronix Data Systems, Inc., in the amount of $43,988, for software maintenance for the county Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services, for a term of one year, beginning Jan. 1.
* Accepted a $272,094 grant, with $36,156 additional funding, from the state Department of Human Services for county comprehensive alcoholism and drug abuse services, between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2020.
* Accepted a $647,397 grant from the state Division of Aging Services “to provide a continued comprehensive and coordinated system of services for the elderly.”
* Approved phase two of the contract with Michael Calafati Architect, LLC, in the amount not to exceed $453,500, for the project to repurpose and renovate the historic Franklin Street School, Cape May. The amount is divided equally between the county, county Library Commission and Cape May.
* Reappointed Ron Simone, of North Wildwood, to the Cape May County Planning Board for a term of three years.  
* Reappointed Bob Ashman, of Stone Harbor, to the Cape May County Planning Board for a term of three years.
* Authorized modification No. 1 in the amount of $9,148 to the construction engineering services agreement with Remington and Vernick, Inc. for Ocean Drive over Upper Thorofare and Mill Creek bridges repair and approach guiderail replacement in Lower Township.
