SEA ISLE CITY – During public comment at the Nov. 12 Sea Isle City Council meeting, a resident questioned the purchase of a 60-inch Kohler lawnmower. The item was on the consent agenda for council approval, which reviews these types of items in bulk groupings.
The purchase was listed as a “tennis fee trust purchase” from the “Hustler Turf Equipment Sourcewell Contract” for $10,071. “I went online and I found the very same item for $8,000, with a $500 rebate,” the resident said.
“I don’t have the details as to why we ordered this item as we did, although I’m sure it must be from a state contract for public works equipment, and might also include parts and other auxiliary equipment,” replied Business Administrator George Savastano. “I will find out and report back.”
