Harshaw, Brannen Sworn In; DeMarzo Named Mayor

By Lauren Suit

WILDWOOD – Gary DeMarzo was named the city’s new mayor during a special meeting Dec. 14.
He was selected after the city’s newest Commissioners Al Brannen and Edward Harshaw were sworn into office and Ernie Troiano Jr. and Bill Davenport’s term officially came to an end after the results of the recall election were certified.
Brannen and Harshaw were selected to replace them after the two candidates garnered the highest number of votes in the Dec. 8 election.
According to election results, including provisional votes, residents wanted a change and voted 624 to 487 to recall Troiano, and 649 to 470 to recall Davenport.
Harshaw will oversee the Department of Public Works and Brannen will head the Department of Public Safety. Daniel Gallagher, the attorney who presented the recall in a court trial, was named as interim solicitor. Richard Deaney was named interim municipal administrator.
The newly formed commission also voted to advertise for municipal engineer and municipal auditor.
