PETERSBURG – At the Oct. 15 Upper Township Committee meeting, committee voted to rescind an ordinance to approve the transfer of two lots on East Pacific Avenue, owned by the municipality, to Habitat for Humanity for affordable housing construction.
The ordinance had elicited several questions and comments during its first reading Sept. 23, including concerns about wildlife protection in a wooded area encompassed by the lots, as well as appropriate street width.
Engineer Paul Dietrich said he had inspected the street, and its width was within state and Upper Township regulation. However, during discussion Oct. 15, other lots in the vicinity were determined to be more appropriate to protect wildlife and preserve the views of existing homeowners.
A revised ordinance is expected to come before committee in November, with an aim to approve in 2019.
