Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed an executive order calling for flags to be flown at half-mast Friday, July 20, in honor of Firefighter Stephen Dembski, a lifelong resident of Ridgefield Park, and a volunteer firefighter and a former fire chief serving his community for 23 years. The order states that Dembski served his fire department with exceptional courage, dedication and professionalism, was a loving husband and devoted father of two sons, and will be remembered as an “all around great guy.” Dembski, the order states, “has made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life as a volunteer firefighter to New Jersey’s citizens.”
