CREST HAVEN – The Cape May County Fare Free Transportation Department, Cape May County Vocational Technical School and Cumberland County Technical School will be recognized Nov. 8 at the New Jersey Transportation, Logistics and Distribution Talent Network’s Transportation Summit in Edison.
The department’s CDL- Class B program is being honored, which was funded through a grant to train drivers to earn a CDL license.
The program provided free classroom and practical instructions that culminated in earning a New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicle standard CDL Class B, with passenger endorsement driver’s license.
This was a first-time program for Cape May County.  Training was provided through the Cape May County Vocational High School Adult Education program.
Successful participants of the program were offered seasonal employment with Fare Free and drove the work bus, a pilot program that took employees to and from work in the Lower Township, Middle Township, Cape May and Wildwood area.
Freeholder E. Marie Hayes, who oversees the Fare Free Department, stated in a release, “This is an honor for Cape May County and the Fare Free Transportation Department.  We identified the need for CDL trained drivers and were excited to participate in the Talent Network program but never imagined we would be honored for the program within the first year.  I commend Dan Mulraney and his staff for the work they put into this program.  This recognition is well deserved.”
New Jersey’s Transportation, Logistics and Distribution Talent Network (TLDTN) builds partnerships in the TLD industry to develop and support TLD in the Garden State and formulate strategies for competing at the regional, national, and global levels.
Mulraney, director and Kathleen Hollenback, assistant director, will attend the conference and receive the award for Fare Free Transportation Department, Cape May County Technical School and Cumberland County Technical School who all participated in the success of the program.
