PETERSBURG – A milestone was reached for Upper Township’s Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), when the chief and deputy chief of the emergency medical technicians (EMT), both female, took their oaths of office, administered by Municipal Clerk Barbara Young.
Michelle Sampson assumed duties as chief EMT and Mellissa Coker as deputy chief EMT. Throngs of EMS and EMT colleagues attended the swearing-in ceremony held concurrently with Upper Township Committee’s Dec. 16 meeting.
Per its website, Upper Township’s EMS is responsible for answering calls for medical aid within the 68 square miles of the municipality, and is staffed 24/7 year-round by at least two EMTs, and up to five in the summer.
