DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township Committee met July 25 and approved a resolution for specifications and authorization to receive bids for a project to renovate its municipal building and senior center.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, resident Frank Huff said, “Thank you for filling in the potholes around Gracetown Road, but they’re not holding. There’s one there that’s very deep and always filled with moisture and water.”
Committee member Donald Tozer replied, “We’ve been doing some spot milling and repair in that area. But the intersection of Gracetown and Route 628 is county so we were going to wait and jump on the contract they have to repair potholes but it sounds like we can’t wait until they move ahead.”
Township Engineer John Gibson noted, “I’ve talked to the county and it doesn’t look like they’ll be moving ahead with this contract anytime soon. So I couldn’t get a paving quote from their contractor but reached out to have four spots done including Gracetown and Schoolhouse where we need repair. It’s a high per unit measure because there’s not much volume so see if committee wants to use them.”
Committee member Melanie Smith announced, “We’re in the countdown until our National Night Out on Aug. 1 and we’re all hoping for great weather.”
Mayor Zeth Matalucci, concluding the meeting, urged everyone to drive carefully. “We’ve had so many accidents of late; people are driving really recklessly and keeping our EMS too busy.”
