WILDWOOD CREST – During a July 25 borough commissioners’ meeting, borough officials temporarily tabled an amendment to the borough’s policy on alcoholic beverages. As the borough seeks to allow one-day permits for catering and special events, a referendum from the 1970s has been discovered which disallowed alcohol. According to Mayor Don Cabrera, the commission will investigate the wording and legalities of the referendum under the guidance of counsel. No changes to the borough’s code on alcoholic beverages will be made until that investigation is complete.  The ordinance was tabled to provide time to seek a legal opinion from the director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control concerning the procedure for and legal implications resulting from the amendment to the ordinance.
