County Firefighters Conduct Rope Rescue Training

ERMA– Firefighters from throughout Cape May County conducted a Basic Rope Rescue course on Nov. 21 and 22 at Erma Fire Station 62.
Topics included: Basic rope rescue fundamentals and techniques, understanding safe rope rescue operation practices, recognizing the dangers associated with rope rescue operations, equipment familiarization, rescue knots, knot applications, anchor systems, multi-point anchoring systems, choosing proper anchors, belay techniques, rappelling, simple hauling and lowering systems, patient assessment and packaging.
The course met or exceeded NFPA Standards 1670 and 1006.
The course was a joint effort between the Cape May County Fire Academy and the Cape May County Fire Chief’s Assoc.
