STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Council authorized the borough engineer, Dec 17, to move ahead with the permitting process for a proposed Beach Patrol building at 95th Street.
To gain the state and federal permits for construction of the facility, the borough will present plans that lock-in the building’s footprint and elevation, meaning that council is sufficiently satisfied with the design concept to make that commitment.
The proposed two-story structure has an estimated price tag of $2.2 million, with the entire project, including replacement of the nearby restrooms and area landscaping, priced at $3.6 million.
By authorizing $25,000 to begin the permitting process, the borough retains the ability to complete permitting, engineering and design work in time for a bid process and construction to start in 2020.
Business Administrator Jill Gougher told the council that a delay in the time-consuming process of seeking permits would most likely push the start of construction to 2021.
