COURT HOUSE – Earlier this month, New Jersey Sens. Cory Booker and Bob Menendez (both D-NJ) announced the award of federal funds to help hospitals that incurred extraordinary expense for additional staff during the pandemic.

Cape Regional Medical Center was awarded $1,713,117 to help offset these staff increases, as well as costs incurred for testing, treating, and diagnosing patients.

The award was made by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA’s Public Assistance program is a source of funding for states and communities recovering from a federally declared disaster or emergency. The awards are generally reimbursement for expenses already incurred.
