CAPE MAY – Following Executive Order 143, issued by Gov. Phil Murphy May 14, Cape May beaches will be open for sitting and sunbathing, as of 6 a.m. May 22.
However, according to a release, the opening of the Cape May beaches shall be subject to all restrictions and strict social distancing requirements outlined in paragraphs two and three of New Jersey Executive Order 143.
Also, under the authority granted to Cape May in EO-143, for reasons of public health and safety, no swimming or bathing will be permitted at the Cape May beaches until further notice.
According to paragraph four of EO-143, all persons are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings when present on the beach.
Be further advised that the Cape May Beach Patrol will be on duty beginning May 23. There will be no beach patrol services May 22.
Persons violating this Order, as well as those who aid or abet violations of this Order, are subject to arrest and prosecution as disorderly persons, under N.J.S.A. App. A:9-49 and N.J.S.A. App. A:9-50.
