Cape May County Sheriff Announces Promotions at Correctional Center

Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced the promotions of three correctional officers to supervisor and management positions. Officers Grady Faircloth III and Charles Magill, Jr. were promoted to the rank of Sergeant and Sergeant Robert Campbell, Jr. was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. All promotions replace officers that have retired from the department.
Lt. Campbell was hired as a Corrections Officer in December 1997 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2006 when he was assigned as squad supervisor at the Correctional Center. Also, Lt. Campbell served as the correctional center coordinator for the Gang Intelligence Committee which assimilates information regarding gang members incarcerated in the facility. He is a certified instructor at the Cape May County Police Academy and was recently assigned as the Inmate Affairs Officer. Currently, Lt. Campbell serves as the facility’s Squad Commander.
Officer Grady W. Faircloth, III was hired in September 2002 as a Corrections Officer. He recently served as a primary processing officer within the facility while also functioning as his squad’s primary investigating officer for institutional charges. Presently, he serves as a member of the Gang Intelligence Committee and will be assigned as a squad supervisor.
Officer Charles W. Magill, Jr. was hired in July 2001 as a Corrections Officer. He served as a primary processing officer within the facility. He is a certified instructor at the Cape May County Police Academy and a certified Firearm’s Instructor. During the past year, he served as the training coordinator for the correctional center and will be assigned as a squad supervisor as well.
Sheriff Schaffer said, “These three officers are extremely dedicated and talented. They will bring a whole new level of commitment and performance to the Sheriff’s Office Correctional Division and I look forward to their participation on our management team and the input and ideas I know they will bring to this organization. I congratulate these officers and look forward to their active participation and leadership skills they bring to this organization.”
