Board OKs Radio Upgrade, Expansion

CREST HAVEN – Freeholders approved a purchase with Motorola Solutions, Inc. Nov. 26 for a radio upgrade and expansion.
The $1.8 million cost includes all hardware, software, installation, engineering, staging, site management, programming, integration, optimization, upgrade of Woodbine and county airport sites to 12 channels, including one state and 11 county channels, and to provide and install a new transceiver site at InSite location in Cold Spring, per the resolution. 
“What effect will that have for Upper Township, and emergency service units up there? Would they be able to tie into that,” Freeholder Jeffrey Pierson asked Allison Hansen, of the Purchasing Department.
Hansen said that they would. She added that a tower was going to be placed in Upper Township.
In other action, the board:
* Approved per diem rates for employees involved in overnight travel on official business: breakfast, $13; lunch, $15; dinner, $29.
* Appointed Shannon Chiera as keyboarding clerk 3 in the Facilities and Services Department, effective Nov. 8, 2019. 
* Closed the contract with The Design Collaborative Architects and Planners, PA, of Court House, for renovations to the Superior Courthouse, with a final payment of $2,069.
* Accepted a $45,000 grant from the state Department of Health to provide special child health services.
* Authorized a professional services agreement with Health Care Resources to provide financial consultation services for Crest Haven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, in an amount not to exceed $15,000.
* Authorized modification No. 5 in the amount of $67,155 to the professional services agreement with Modjeski and Masters, Inc. for Ocean Drive Bridge over Townsend’s Inlet for rehabilitation of the bascule and tollhouse spans.
* Granted permission to Lower Township Rotary Club to close a portion of Breakwater Road (CR 613), from Fishing Creek Road (CR 639) to Bayshore Road (CR 603) Dec. 14 for the Christmas parade. The closure will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Breakwater Road to Rosehill Parkway will also be closed from 6 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade.
* Authorized modification No. 2 in the amount of $33,779 to the engineering services agreement with Michael Baker International, Inc. for emergency repairs to 96th Street Bridge, in Stone Harbor, due to deterioration and distortion of the outer web support.
* Authorized a change order in the amount of $12,494 to the contract with Zone Striping, Inc., of Glassboro, for Landis/Commonwealth avenues (CR 619) striping improvements, from 29th Street, in Sea Isle City, to Williard Avenue in Upper Township.
* Authorized change order No. 2 in the amount of $179,334 to the contract with Agate Construction Company, Inc., of Ocean View, for Ocean Drive Bridge over Townsend’s Inlet spans 1-7 replacement.
