CREST HAVEN – By appointment of Gov. Chris Christie, Arthur “Stig” Blomkvest became chairman of the county Board of Elections March 8. The post had been held by Edward Taylor, whose appointment was removed (i.e. not reappointed), according to a county salary resolution passed April 12 by freeholders.
To replace Taylor on the board, the governor appointed Kevin Lare, as a member. He is county purchasing agent and will remain as such in a full-time capacity, according to the resolution. As a member Lare will receive $9,499.85.
All are Republicans. Blomkvest is a former Lower Township councilman. Taylor, who earlier this year resigned as Middle Township Republican leader, remains a full-time employee in the Office of Emergency Management. The chairman’s salary is $14,248.96.
The board consists of two Democrats and two Republicans.
Susan L. DeLanzo, a Democrat, is a former Middle Township mayor and committee member. As board secretary her salary is $14,248.96.
Jeffrey H. Sutherland, also a member, receives $9,499.85. He chairs the Cape May County Democratic Party.
