NORTH WILDWOOD – Beach replenishment is delayed and ongoing, with large trucks on the beach dumping and spreading sand.
The backpassing project, where sand is trucked from Wildwood and spread in North Wildwood, was originally supposed to be completed before Memorial Day weekend.
The scope of the project – the largest in North Wildwood’s history – along with bad weather in May and large crowds on the beaches in June slowed things down, according to Mayor Patrick Rosenello.
Rosenello asks people to use the beaches that are not being worked on, including the inlet beach, which has a lot of parking.
Next week (June 22-26), 8th Avenue to 22nd Avenue beaches will be worked on, which Rosenello said will be the last week of major work. The mayor said work will be completed by July 4.
