By Rachel Rogish

WILDWOOD – Under new business, Mayor Ernie Troiano brought up the topic of banning single-use plastics in the city. According to the mayor, single-use plastics include straws, bags, cutlery, etc.
Other municipalities including Stone Harbor, Avalon, and Somers Point have banned such items. Commissioner Anthony Leonetti said he would support the measure, having already transitioned to paper bags at his hardware store. Commissioner Peter Byron stated concerns for the business community, especially Boardwalk merchants. Troiano said the measure could be implemented over time.
City Solicitor Mary D’Arcy Bittner said she would research the issue and report back for further discussion.
