One week before the start of the Memorial Day Weekend, Murphy said shore town beaches could be open starting May 22. He said that capacity must be controlled to allow for appropriate social distancing.
Cape May County, at 488, and Salem County, at 438, have the lowest number of confirmed cases among the state’s 21 counties. Neighboring Cumberland County has over a thousand more cases, at 1,471.
Freeholder Len Desiderio was present at Murphy’s press conference today. Desiderio said he was honored to be invited by the governor, and that county officials are “grateful to have the near-daily dialogue with his office throughout the entire reopening process.”
