Lois Smith, local jazz singer extraordinaire, continues to thrill audiences throughout the region with her powerful yet sensitive voice and her sassy attitude. Supported by a superb group of jazz veterans, she’ll once again take the Jazz Vespers concert stage at the First Presbyterian Church 500 Hughes Street (corner of Hughes and Decatur streets, Cape May) Sunday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m.
Smith has been thrilling audiences in the region for many years. She typically sings a combination of jazz favorites such as “I Got the World on a String” and “Blackberry Winter” and includes a few gospel numbers, as well. The song list is often created on the spot, as the feeling and audience moves her.
Aside from her singing, Smith has played keyboards professionally and is also a highly accomplished painter and writer.
For her Vespers gig Smith will have Jack Hegyi on bass, Evan Shaye on vibes and Irv Melman on keyboards.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. A love offering is requested. No reservations are required but concerts are frequently SRO, so early arrival should be considered.
