Wildwood Kitchen Fire Quickly Extinguished

WILDWOOD – Wildwood and North Wildwood firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 3800 block, Pacific Avenue, Wildwood Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
According to a release from Fire Chief Daniel Speigel, Squad Company 3, under the command of Capt. Aldo Sacco, and NWFD Quint Company 2 responded to the call.
Upon arrival, nothing was evident from the exterior and the building had been evacuated. The occupants reported a working fire in the second floor rear of the structure.
Firefighters entered through heavy smoke.
Deputy Chief Troiano III arrived and requested the all hands be transmitted.
Crews stretched hand-lines into the building and also began searching the unit. The fire, in the rear of the dwelling unit, was quickly extinguished. Fire originated in a stove and quickly spread to the microwave oven and cabinets over the stove.
The building was occupied at the time of the incident by family members, including several children, who all safely escaped prior to the fire departments’ arrival.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
Wildwood Police also assisted on scene.
