WILDWOOD – The Wildwood City Fire Department reminds everyone to test their smoke alarms as they “Spring Forward” March 8.
According to a release, according to the U.S. Fire Administration, three out of five home fire deaths result from fires in properties without a working smoke alarm.
Make sure that to put smoke alarms inside and outside each bedroom and sleeping area.
Put alarms on every level of the home. Most importantly make sure those smoke alarms work.
No family is safe if they cannot hear smoke alarms. Test  smoke alarms every month and replace 9-volt smoke alarm batteries at least once a year.
The Wildwood City Fire Department recommends the installation of 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms that do not require battery replacement.
With those alarms, simply test them once a month and replace them after 10 years.
For information on smoke alarms or fire safety residents can always contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at (609) 846-2030.
