Rio Grande, Green Creek Respond to Electrical Fire at Chapin House

RIO GRANDE- At 1:02 p.m. Friday Oct. 2 there was a report of a fire at the Chapin House nursing home at 1042 Rt. 47 south.
It was declared an electrical fire that had ignited due to an overheated electrical outlet.
Rio Grande and Green Creek fire companies responded.
An employee reported that they saw smoke.
Ten residents sat in chairs in the parking lot and awaited direction.
A Herald reporter arrived at the scene and witnessed no visible flames or smoke from the exterior.
At 1:31 p.m. residents were permitted back inside.
