SEAVILLE– One man was injured when the trolley he was driving caught on fire here on the Garden State Parkway at mile marker 21.7 southbound around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 29.
The trolley did not have passengers.
Seaville Fire Department, Upper Township Rescue Squad, Medic 8 and State Police responded to the scene.
Traffic was at a standstill for 45 minutes as firefighters put out the blaze. Traffic was eventually restored to one lane.
According to a radio report at 6:19 p.m., the fire department was still on location assisting with traffic and waiting for a tow truck.
The driver of the bus, a 43-year-old male, was in respiratory distress, according to State Police. He was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Upper Township Rescue Squad and Medic 8.
The fire is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal.
