Firefighters Extinguish Burleigh Kitchen Fire

BURLEIGH – Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 500 block of North Wildwood Blvd. in the Burleigh section of Middle Township May 21 at approximately 7:09 p.m.
Station 72 Rio Grande Fire was first on scene and found a fire on the stove extending to the wall behind the stove. First in crews from Quint 7254 quickly extinguished the fire with a 1 3/4″ hose line. The crew, after extinguishing the fire, checked for further extension to the kitchen cabinets and ceiling area. Crews from Station 70 and 71 were recalled from the fire.
Due to the quick response the fire was contained to the stove and wall area in the kitchen. The fire did do heavy smoke and water damage to the structure.
The Cape May County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the fire.
