DIAMOND BEACH — A Lower Township patrolman was dispatched to the beach near Pier 6600 here about 9:20 a.m. Aug. 28 after a resident called to report what appeared to be medical waste on the beach.
The officer and his superior were investigating.
More information will be posted when it becomes known.
If the report is validated, it would seem to indicate that the medical waste that washed ashore in Avalon, discovered Aug. 23, that resulted in over 150 items of waste being identified, and beaches closed on and off for three days, may be more widespread than first thought.
The state Attorney General is investigating the Avalon matter, and a $10,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the person or persons who disposed of that waste.
