Ocean City Students Participate in Two Environmental Projects on Friday, April 29th

OCEAN CITY – Friday, April 29th from 8:30 am – 10:30 am, the 8th Grade Ocean City Intermediate School students are studying the beach and coastal environment and have joined the Ocean City’s Adopt a Beach Program. They will participate in a clean up, as well as two additional educational projects on the beaches from 14th – 16th Streets.
The student clean up is a kick off to the Statewide Beach Sweep being held on Saturday, April 30th from 9am – noon and is sponsored by the Ocean City Environmental Commission, Clean Communities and Clean Ocean Action. The beach clean up will take place along the entire shoreline of Ocean City and other coastal communities throughout New Jersey.
On the same day from 1pm – 2:30pm at the 4th Street Beach, the Ocean City High School Student Environmental Association will be assisting the Cape May County Beach Plum Association and US Department of Agriculture representatives in a Beach Plum study.
Students will assist in planting two plots of Beach Plums, using different soils that will be monitored for a study being conducted by the USDA.
