The report states that polluted runoff from roads and parking lots and overflowing or failing sewer systems are common causes for unclean water. To combat water pollution, Congress July 1 voted on the Water Quality Protection Act, which would “authorize $40 billion over five years to support low-cost financing for clean water infrastructure projects,” according to the Press.
