Atlantic Cape Trustees Approve Contracts and Personnel Matters at July Meeting

MAYS LANDING—Atlantic Cape Community College’s Board of Trustees approved several grants, personnel changes and contracts and purchases when it met July 25 at the Mays Landing Campus.
In Grant Activity, the Board:
–Approved submitting an application to NJCCC for the College Readiness Now IV program to increase the number of college-ready students graduating high school by fostering community college and high school partnerships that improve student success, for a grant of $42,980, over the term of July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018.
–Approved submitting an application to National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program, Small Grants for Institutions New to the ATE Program to undertake a project to improve science and engineering technician education programs, for a grant of up to $225,000, total over two years, over the anticipated term of June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2020.
— Approved the application as a partner of Rutgers University CAIT to the U.S. Department of Transportation, University Transportation Centers Program, with the college being responsible for developing a UAS Infrastructure Inspection Training Program and to receive up to $30,000 each year over six years, with an anticipated start date of Nov. 30, 2017 through September 30, 2023.
Contracts and Purchases:
–The Board approved the authorization that the college purchase the required furniture up to the amounts quoted under the Middlesex Cooperative Contract of $254,191.80 for the Student Center and $51,975.50 for Testing, or that the college may purchase the same furniture from the lowest responsible bidder as a result of the request for quotes as long as the price is less than the Middlesex Cooperative Contract amount to ensure that the furniture will be available and arrive on time; the college will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder prior to the September Board of Trustees.
–Fire alarm system, three-year contract, Tyco SimplexGrinnell, Horsham, Pennsylvania, $142,365.
–New Jersey Council of County Colleges annual membership, NJCCC, Trenton $50,782.
–Software license, Edmentum, Inc., Bloomington, Minnesota, $22,370.
–Professional services, Collaboratory, LLC, Silver Spring, Maryland, $40,000.
–Professional consulting services, Public Consulting Group, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts, $92,534.40.
— Nursing assessment program, Assessment Technologies Institute, Overland Park, Kansas, $90,000.
— Fixed Wing Training, Infinity Flight, Trenton; and Helicopter Training Services, Helicopter Flight Services, Medford.
–Adult basic skills contract with Cape May County Technical School, payment for services performed as part of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce $140,390.
–Web hosting services, optional one-year renewal, 30R Networks, Bridgeton, $23,700.
— Approved the college to increase the contract with Interactive Accessibility, Inc. to include travel expenses.
In Personnel Action, the Board:
Approved the following resignations:
–Timothy Mangano, housekeeper I, Facilities, retroactive to July 10.
–Martin Thorstensen, specialist, Information Technology Services, retroactive to July 14.
–Rachel Dieterly, office assistant, Admissions, effective July 31.
The board approved the appointment of Polly Thieler, assistant professor, Nursing, effective Sept. 5.
In Other Business, the Board:
–Approved the June 2017 financial statement draft as of July 11, 2017.
–Revised the tuition and fee schedule for FY18 to include updated course fees for the Aviation Program.
–Approved honoring Trooper Frankie Williams by naming and dedicating the street beginning at the intersection of Tuckahoe Road and T Building proceeding due south and terminating at Building Q-Rutgers Building as Frankie Williams Way. In partnership with Rutgers University, a ceremony to officially dedicate the road and a tree in memory of Trooper Williams will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.
–Approved an increase to $610 per credit for adjunct instructors, and $640 for senior adjuncts, respectively, effective Sept. 5, 2017.
–Approved the revision of Policy 4 to include the American with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008.
