Dead Humpback Whale Found in Townsend’s Inlet

TOWNSEND’S INLET – A dead humpback whale discovered around 3:30 p.m. Nov. 4 continued floating near a sandbar in Townsend’s Inlet, as of Nov. 6, NJ.com reported.
Bob Schoelkopf, director of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, in Brigantine, said the mammal, located about 100 yards off of Sea Isle City, was dead for several days. Crews can’t mobilize to examine the animal further for safety reasons, Schoelkopf added.
