Wildwood Police Stop, Search Vehicle, Charge Driver with Narcotics Offenses

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD – A March 12 traffic stop by Wildwood Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division led to charges against the driver for various drug-related offenses.
According to a release, the vehicle was stopped in the 100 East block of Rio Grande Avenue, Wildwood.
The driver was identified as Gabriel Acevedo-Curbelo, 30. He consented to a search of the vehicle. That search resulted in the recovery of distribution quantities of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), specifically heroin, narcotics paraphernalia, and a weapon.
The CDS was prepackaged for street-level sale and distribution having an estimated value of $1,500. In addition, $1,979 was confiscated, deemed the proceeds of narcotics sales/distribution.
As a result of the investigation, the following charges were filed against Acevedo-Curbelo: possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a certain public property, possession of a prohibited weapon, certain person prohibited from possessing a weapon, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Acevedo-Curbelo was processed and taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility following Attorney General Guidelines in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Directive.
