WILDWOOD — For the second time in two days, Wildwood police charged teens with underage drinking at a local motel.
On June 12 at 8 p.m., Wildwood police observed underage persons under the influence of alcohol at the Eden Roc Motel, 5201 Atlantic Ave.
Eight persons were issued summons at the scene for being a minor under the influence or possessing alocholic beverages. Five juveniles were also brought to police headquarters, where they were processed and released to their guardians. In addition, an 18-year-old from Congers, N.Y., was processed and released for underage drinking.
Police said over 40 cases of beer and numerous other types of alcohol were seized from the scene.
City fire inspectors also responded to the Eden Roc and closed numerous rooms of the motel for violations.
This was the second time in two days that police responded to the motel.
On June 11 at approximately 7:45 p.m. for a noise complaint, Wildwood police observed a large group of high school students drinking alcohol.
As a result, police issued summonses for underage drinking to 20 individuals between 18 and 20 years old. Police also took nine juveniles into custody and released to their parents who responded from the New York City area.
Additionally, motel owner Afifi Michael was issued a summons for providing real property to minors to consume alcohol. He is facing additional charges for the June 12 incident, police said.
