By Herald Staff

RIO GRANDE — On Sept. 23, Fred Ployd turned himself into Middle Township Police Department for outstanding charges of robbery, which occurred at the Shelton Motel on September 16.
After further investigation conducted by the Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit, new information was obtained, which permitted Ployd, 43, to be released on his own recognizance.
According to police, a victim reported that he had been drinking beer with Ployd, when for no apparent reason, he was attacked.
The victim stated that Ployd grabbed him and placed him into a headlock and forced him to the ground. When on the ground the Ployd repeatedly punched and kicked the victim about the head, face and ribs. Ployd allegedly then took money from the victim’s pockets and left the area.
Police said the case remains under investigation.
