CAPE MAY – Two suspects who were wanted in connection with a jewelry theft from Artisans Alcove Estate Jewelers in Cape May have been arrested.
Baltimore County Police in Maryland have arrested Robert Weathers, 53, of Gwenn Oak, MD and Robin Nelson, 50, of Baltimore, MD. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s office identified both suspects and warrants were issued for both regarding the Cape May jewelry store theft June 5.
According to police, Weathers and Nelson have been charged in connection with several other thefts in Maryland.
In addition, Stanley Gwynn, 45, of Elkridge, MD was arrested in connection to one of the thefts in Maryland.
Initial reports indicated that the suspects distracted the store clerk while other suspects opened an unlocked case and stole over $100,000 worth of diamond engagement rings from the Cape May jewelry store May 8.
Gwynn was relased on $100,000 bail, while Weathers and Nelson are being held in Baltimore County jail with bail set at $450,000 each.
According to police, a fourth female suspect has been identified in connection to one of the Maryland thefts, but an arrest has yet to be made.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
