The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD — Two men were arrested Nov. 4, charged with possession and distribution of marijuana, according to a Wildwood Police Department release.
At approximately 3:07 p.m., the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division was dispatched to the area of 26th and Pacific avenues for the report of an animal complaint.  During the investigation, officers determined that a vehicle seen leaving the scene was involved in the incident.
As a result, a vehicle stop was conducted a short distance away. The driver was identified as Anthony Borland, 18, of Del Haven, and the passenger was identified as Joseph Hanners, 29, of Dennisville.
During the stop, officers detected the strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the car.
After recovering several small zip-lock bags containing suspected marijuana which was packaged for street-level sales, officers determined that the odor of raw marijuana was likely coming from a larger source in the locked trunk of the vehicle.
As a result, the vehicle was impounded and the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division was contacted to assist in the investigation.
As a result of a court-authorized search warrant executed on the vehicle, just under one pound of suspected marijuana was seized from the car’s trunk, along with a digital scale and small zip-lock bags commonly used to package narcotics for street-level distribution.
In addition, cartridges of suspected tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabis oil were recovered, as were numerous glass pipes and other paraphernalia used to ingest marijuana.
Approximately $4,000 in currency was also seized during the investigation.  That money was submitted for forfeiture as proceeds of illicit activity, namely the sale of narcotics.
As a result of this investigation, both Borland and Hanners were charged with possession of CDS / marijuana over 50 grams; possession of CDS / marijuana over one ounce with the intent to distribute; possession of CDS / marijuana with the intent to distribute in a school zone; and possession of CDS / marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a certain public place.
In addition to those charges, Hanners was also charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia, a disorderly person offense.
Charges for both Borland and Hanners were placed on warrant complaints and they were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
