WOODBINE– Detectives and uniformed state troopers from the Woodbine station apprehend Carmelo Ortiz Arroyo around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 29.
Sources confirm, Arrayo was taken into custody at Woodbine Manor Apartments in unit D-10.
Arroyo was wanted in connection with the June 10, stabbing on Juan Rivera Perez. Warrants were issued for aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Arroyo was lodged in the Cape May County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

WOODBINE– State Police have issued a warrant for Carmelo Ortiz Arrayo for aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, in connection with the stabbing of Juan Rivera Perez, according to Capt. Gerald Lewis.
According to Lewis, troopers at the Woodbine station received the call at 8:19 a.m., when they arrived on scene they determined Arrayo fled the scene in a gold color Honda. Troopers began to conduct a search of the area to locate the suspect. The search turned up the car Arrayo was driving; however they were unable to locate Arrayo.
Arrayo has been entered into the National Crime Information computer was as wanted person. Anyone who knows the ware about of Carmelo Ortiz Arrayo is asked to call the Woodbine station at 609-861-5698 __________________________________
UPDATE 12:55 p.m. June 10.
ATLANTIC CITY– According to an Atlanticare spokesperson Juan Rivera Perez was listed in “fair” condition as of 12:55 p.m.
WOODBINE — State Police are investigating a stabbing here in front of a Spanish speaking Pentecostal church on Franklin Street that occurred around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10.
After the victim was stabbed, he walked down Franklin Street screaming for help according to Jesusa Ramos, the office manager of the Puerto Rican Action Committee.
Ramos told the Herald that the victim, identified as Juan Rivera Perez, collapsed outside the doors to the Puerto Rican Action Committee where she held him and attempted to stop the bleeding from a stab wound to his back.
“I hold him, tried to help him, he was bleeding badly,” said Ramos.
Perez frequently visited the committee for assistance, according to Executive Director David Rodriguez.
Perez had previously gone to the committee to call the Division of Youth and Family Services to report abuse he observed a month before his son, Caden Rivera, was killed in his Woodbine apartment.
State Police went door to door at the Woodbine Manor apartment complex looking for the suspect, identified by witnesses on the scene, after the car he was reported to have been driving was located behind an abandoned building adjacent to the complex on Webster Street.
Perez was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Trauma Unit in Atlantic City by Belleplain Emergency Corps and Medic 9, his condition was unknown.
