STONE HARBOR – Two Pennsylvanians were arrested by Stone Harbor police May 25 following a 5:11 p.m. motor vehicle stop for speeding at 111th Street and Second Avenue.
According to a police report, Officer Matthew Sokorai stopped a vehicle operated by Jami A. Nazarski, 26, of Wayne, Pa. for speeding at 111th Street and Second Avenue. When he approached the vehicle on the driver’s side, Special Law Enforcement Officer II Andrew Peahota approached from the passenger side.
As Sokorai talked with Nazarski about the vehicle’s registration card, the passenger, Colin Hobyak, 26, of Newtown Square, Pa. opened the glove compartment. At that time, Peahota spotted a hand gun in the glove compartment.
Both men were removed from the vehicle and were taken into custody. The hand gun was identified as a Sig Sauer .40 caliber, semi-automatic loaded with hollow-point bullets. Further investigation at the scene revealed that the car also contained a second hand gun in the trunk.
The vehicle was impounded and a search warrant was executed for the additional firearm. Search of the vehicle revealed a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with hollow-point bullets, two boxes of ammunition, three loaded pistol magazines, two survival-type knives, brass knuckles and prescription medication that had not been prescribed, all found in the car’s trunk.
Based on the investigation, Hobyak was released with traffic and ordinance charges. Nazarski was charged with second, third and fourth-degree weapons offenses, possession of drugs, driving under the influence, speeding, drugs in a motor vehicle and failure to provide vehicle registration.
Nazarski was released after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail set by Judge John Fowler. The case is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
