WILDWOOD – On Jan. 11, members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division arrested a sixth juvenile in the continuing investigation of the arson at the Doris Vernon Apartments, 306 East Pine Avenue, that occurred on Jan. 4, and numerous related burglary and criminal mischief incidents.
The juvenile was charged with aggravated arson, a second degree crime, failure to report a fire, a fourth degree crime, and several counts of burglary, a third degree crime.
The juvenile was lodged in the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center.
This brings the total to six juvenile offenders who have been arrested on charges of aggravated arson and failure to report a fire at the Doris Vernon Apartments, as well as various complaints for burglary, and criminal mischief.
All six juvenile offenders continue to be lodged in the Cumberland County Detention Center as of the time of this press release.
In addition to the aggravated arson incident, in which only the juvenile offenders are known to be involved, investigation of this matter has uncovered that these juvenile offenders, and one adult offender, have been involved in divers criminal violations in the first and second wards in the City of Wildwood.
The adult offender is nineteen year-old Justin Ort, who resides at 138 East Youngs Ave.
All of the involved offenders reside in the City of Wildwood. To date, these offenders have been found to be responsible for fifteen incidents of criminal mischief, ranging from graffiti of automobiles and residences to destruction of property inside residences, burglaries of eleven separate properties, attempted burglaries of six other properties, two incidents of theft, and one incident of aggravated arson.
Additional charges will be forthcoming to the various offenders.
