The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD — Members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division investigated a prescription fraud case Nov. 1, at about 3:38 p.m.
During the preliminary investigation, the victim reported that he received information that a female of Asian descent was filling prescriptions in his name.
Accordingly, police responded to the chain pharmacy and spoke with the on-duty pharmacist, who confirmed that an Asian female had filled multiple prescriptions in the victim’s name.
Then, on Nov. 5. at about 4:43 p.m., police responded to the pharmacy at 3400 New Jersey Ave. for the report of an Asian female attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription.
Upon officers arrival, they located Jessica Mattera, a 31-year-old female of Rio Grande, who is a nurse.
Mattera was identified as the subject, who was attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription script for Adderall. She was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters.
During the investigation, the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division conducted a follow-up investigation concerning Mattera filling fraudulent prescriptions.
During this portion of the investigation, it was discovered that Mattera forged prescriptions in the victim’s name on two separate dates.
Mattera was charged with two counts forgery, two counts obtaining a prescription by fraud, and one count of criminal attempt.
Mattera was issued criminal charges and released on a summons complaint, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines promulgated in connection with Criminal Justice Reform Policies and Directives.
The Detective Division continued to conduct a follow-up investigation and discovered that Mattera additionally filled fraudulent prescriptions utilizing the victim’s name on two more occasions.
Furthermore, Mattera was charged with additional counts of forgery and two more counts of obtaining a prescription by fraud.
Those charges were placed on a warrant complaint and forwarded to the Wildwood Municipal Court.
As of Nov. 28, the whereabouts of Mattera was unknown and the warrants are outstanding.
