By Herald Staff

RIO GRANDE — On May 10 at 1:32 a.m., Corporal Michael Elias, of the Middle Township Police Department, observed a speed violation of 99 mph in a 50 mph zone traveling westbound on Wildwood Boulevard in Rio Grande.
Elias activated his overhead emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, which continued north on the Garden State Parkway, reaching speeds of 130 mph.
Patrolman Daniel Geiger assisted with the call and intercepted the violator near Shellbay Avenue on the Parkway.
The suspect vehicle finally pulled over to the shoulder, just south of Stone Harbor Boulevard.
The driver, Jarred Bohren, 19, of Vineland, was arrested without incident for eluding police. A subsequent search of Bohren’s vehicle revealed 19 Hydrocodone tablets, Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia.
Bohren was additionally charged with drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, speeding and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.
Judge Birchmeier set a $10,000 full cash bail on Bohren, who was placed in the county jail in lieu of bail.
Bohren had an adult passenger in the vehicle that was not criminally implicated in the case, and was released from the scene.
