NORTH CAPE MAY- On September 18 a female reported a sexual assault to the Lower Township Police Department that occurred here on September 14.
The victim advised that she had a social gathering at home earlier in the evening. The gathering ended and she retired for the evening only to be awakened at approximated 4:00 a.m. by a male sexually assaulting her while she was in bed.
As she awoke and became aware of what was happening she began resisting the male and he left the home without further incident.
The male had been a guest at the social gathering earlier in the evening.
It has yet to be determined if he remained behind after the gathering or re-entered the home after leaving.
After an investigation by Patrol Officers and Detectives the suspect was identified as Donald T Arndt, an 18 year old male from North Cape May.
Mr. Arndt was arrested and charged with sexual assault and lodged in the Cape May County Jail in default of $25,000.00 cash bail.
The incident was investigated by Officer Robert Smith and Detective Joseph Boyle.
