Pa. Teen Faces Drug Charges

OCEAN CITY — Police arrested a bicycle-riding, purse-wearing Pennsylvania teen on drug charges over the weekend.
On Saturday, July 25 at 12:50 a.m., Ptl. Andrew Grow, observed a suspicious white male riding a bicycle in the 400 block of Central Avenue.
The male, later identified as Joseph M. Viola, 18, of Southhamption, Pa., was in possession of a white “Guess” purse that was around his neck and a backpack. The Officer stopped the male and inquired about the white purse and backpack. The male said that the he did not know who owned the backpack but said that a friend owned the purse.
According to police, Viola was acting nervously moving objects around in his pants pocket. Eventually the subject removed a plastic bag from his pants that contained suspected marijuana. He was then placed under arrest.
At police headquarters, a search incidental to the arrest was conducted that revealed the other prescription legend drugs, identified as “Oxycodone”. All drugs seized were packaged in a manner that would indicate the intent to sell and distribute.
Viola was charged with possession and intent to distribute marijuana and Oxycodone. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail set by Judge Richard Russell. He
