VILLAS — On Tuesday, March 31 at approximately 3 p.m., Lower Township police received a call from a female indicating that she has a no contact final restraining order against a Norman Johnson, 24, of the 100 block of Utah Avenue.
The female stated that Johnson had made several phone calls to her residence on March 29 and that he had just pulled up to her at the bus stop at Clubhouse and Brookdale avenues in his black pick-up truck where upon he rolled down his window and screamed for her to get into the truck.
The female then fled the area and called police.
Johnson was then interviewed at his residence by Patrolman Robert Fessler and Special Officer Michael lames regarding his contact with the female victim.
Following that interview, Johnson was informed that he was being placed under arrest for violation of a no contact final restraining order. Johnson then became uncooperative and physically resisted his arrest. Johnson then had to be physically brought to the ground and handcuffed by the officers.
During the arrest of Johnson, Patrolman Fessler sustained a sprained knee injury.
Johnson was transported to the Lower Township Police Department and charged with the following offenses: Contempt of court for violation of a Final Restraining Order, a disorderly person’s offense, and causing injury to a Police Officer during the act of resisting arrest, a third-degree crime.
Johnson was lodged in county jail on $15,0000 cash bail set by Judge David Deweese.
Fessler was treated and released at Cape Urgent Care Medical Center for a sprained knee and is currently out of work on injury leave.
