Ocean City Police Report Real Estate Scam

OCEAN CITY — Police here have reported that over the past two weeks they have received complaints about and Internet-based real estate scam.
This scam involves unknown persons copying information from legitimate rental or sales listings that are posted on the Internet. The scam involves the listing being reposted on Craig’s List only as a rental. The contact being from a foreign based country. The scam continues through the use of false Rental Applications that will result in a deposit for the rental being sent to the foreign contact.
Anyone who has information about this Internet scam or feels they have been victimized should contact the Ocean City Police Detective Bureau at (609) 399-9111.
